What Is Envision?

Our Envision treatments may incorporate:


Radiofrequency (RF)

RF gently delivers controlled thermal energy to the treatment area. This warming treatment can be incorporated into the management of patients with meibomian gland dysfunction and may help improve the quality and flow of the oils that are essential to a healthy tear film.


Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

IPL uses carefully controlled pulses of light applied to the skin surrounding the eyes. IPL may be recommended for certain dry eye patients as part of an individualized treatment plan.


What Is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction?


Along the edges of your eyelids are tiny glands called meibomian glands. These glands produce the protective oil layer of your tears.


When the glands become clogged or do not produce healthy oils, tears can evaporate too quickly. This condition, known as Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), is a common contributor to evaporative dry eye.


Symptoms may include:

  • Dryness or a gritty, sandy sensation
  • Burning or stinging
  • Red or irritated eyes
  • Excessive watering
  • Fluctuating or blurry vision
  • Eye fatigue
  • Contact lens discomfort
  • Eyelids that feel irritated or inflamed

Treatment is performed right here in our office. Depending on your individual needs, your eye doctor will determine which Envision technology—or combination of treatments—is appropriate for you.


Most patients can return to their normal activities shortly after treatment.
